Nutrition for People That Dont Work Out

In reality you could spend every day locked in a small cell and never lift a single weight or do any exercise and still stay in great shape...IF you're being fed a healthy nutritious diet. It's no secret that 80% of any success in terms of maintaining or altering your physique comes from what you eat, not how much you work out.

The fitness industry over the last twenty years got people to focus on the outside of their bodies, or their appearance to judge health. Use your clothes, the thickness of your fingers, or how well you can see your six pack. And, the clincher was that everything had to be done at the gym, instead of at home in the kitchen where everything really counts.

The Simple Formula of Weight Loss

It's shocking how many people don't take the time to find out how many calories it takes for their body to run. At the end of the day, what is the number of calories you need to keep your body functioning efficiently?

  • If, on a daily basis you consume less than this amount, you lose weight. As you lose weight though, the number of calories your body needs will change. Keep that in mind before you starve yourself or suffer from malnutrition.
  • If, on the other hand, you consume more, you gain weight. You will keep gaining weight, however slow or fast, until you change things.

To Maintain Muscle

Countless men and women take time off from working out. Once the joints start aching too much, plateaus are reached or it's lost its luster they take a break for a few months. This is a really good idea to let the body completely and fully repair. To maintain as much lean mass as possible without putting on too much adipose tissue they do a couple important things.

  • Add protein to every meal, and then add a little more while not neglecting healthy amounts of fat and carbs.
  • Carbs come in the forms of fruits and vegetables, not processed or sugary goods.
  • They drink a ton of water every day to keep hunger down, the body well hydrated, and the system clean of toxins.

To Stay Trim & Maintain It

It should come as no surprise that there are a fair amount of people out there in the world who look just fine and never lift weights or workout. Typically we shrug it off enviously and claim it must be their genetics. While DNA plays a role, if we looked deeper we would find that they probably have incredibly clean diets.

  • Almost no overeating, but always eating. A strange paradox.
  • A healthy balance of the three essentials (protein, carbs, and fat), but with a bit of a tip towards protein.
  • While they are less likely to take weight loss supplements, they are actually more likely than fitness lovers to take their daily vitamins.
  • These people never, ever, ever skip breakfast!
