Chinese Astrology: Dog

The Dog is loyal and down to earth.

Of all the signs, he is most likely to defend the world's "underdogs," demanding justice and freedom for all.

He is driven by his sense of ethics and possesses uncannily accurate powers of discernment, leading him to snarl and bristle when he encounters oppressive personalities. His bite just as bad as his bark, he is a formidable character when he believes he has detected unfairness in any form.

Despite his reputation for being ferocious to his enemies, the Dog is slow to anger. He prefers not to dwell on the negative and will attempt to choose his battles with care.

A pessimist at heart, the Dog errs on the side of distrust when it comes to strangers. He tends to be anxious, and, if repeatedly thwarted in his attempts to right the wrongs of the world, can become jaded over time.

However, once his heart is won, he is the most faithful of all the signs, protecting his loved ones to the end. He chooses his companions with great care.

Although he is particularly protective of friends and family, the Dog stands up for people everywhere. An altruist, he sees his calling as standing up for all of humanity.

Dogs tend to be givers in relationships. They are generous, faithful, and honest and make excellent listeners. They genuinely care about the dreams and wishes of their loved ones.

The Dog makes for a wonderful companion most of the time. However, when he detects a threat, he can begin barking and not stop until either the threat is removed or someone pets him until he calms down. Even when calmed, once the Dog has deemed someone a threat to a loved one, he will rarely change his view. This can cause him to appear arrogant or bossy to those who don't know him.

With his sense of responsibility for others so strong, the Dog needs rest more than most to reconstitute himself. Often to others he can appear relaxed, but his mind, as well as his heart, is always in action.

Dogs tend to be prosperous and generous. Even when they have significant funds, they lean toward simple tastes, preferring to lavish their loved ones with gifts or to travel over buying opulent things for themselves. If they run out of money, they are the sign best at finding it in a hurry.

The Dog prefers to roam freely versus being hemmed in by throngs of people. When he is away from the crowds that make him wary, he is a witty, charmingly unusual personality.

Recent Dog birth years: 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006.
